The New Orleans Police Department is asking for the public’s help in locating a murder suspect who may be in the Atlanta area.

Travis Cochran, 25, is wanted in connection with an execution-style killing that happened in June in the Lower Garden District. He is 5-foot-10, 180 pounds, and has brown eyes and short, black hair.

Officials said Cochran and another suspect bound and gagged 33-year-old Ahmad Sheppard, pistol-whipped him and then shot him in the head at his home on Prytania Street on June 14.

Louisiana State Police identified Cochran as a suspect after analyzing evidence found at the scene and have not identified the second suspect.

Cochran has four felony arrests, six misdemeanor arrests and one traffic arrest on his record. He also is on probation until October 2014 for possession of crack cocaine.

His past arrests include possession of marijuana, resisting and obstructing an officer, criminal trespassing, disturbing the peace and public intoxication.

A reward could be issued for information leading to Cochran’s arrest. Anyone with information on the case should contact CrimeStoppers at 504-822-1111.
