Gwinnett County police investigating a triple homicide say they have arrested the killer and also broken up a major cocaine trafficking ring, Channel 2 Action News reports.

The alleged shooter, Ernest Huff, was to appear Friday in Gwinnett magistrate court for a preliminary hearing, but prosecutors asked for and received a postponement as they continue their investigation.

Huff is being held without bond in Gwinnett County Jail, charged with three counts each of murder, conspiracy and possession of a weapon during a crime, and one count of violation of probation, according to the Gwinnett Sheriff's Office.

The suspect was arrested March 29 after authorities raided three Gwinnett homes.

"This was a very large-scale investigation, and it has pretty far-reaching implications," said Gwinnett police spokesman Jay Smith.

The shootings occurred Feb. 29 at an apartment complex on Cannonball Road  in the Lawrenceville area.

The following day, a resident of the complex and his children spotted what appeared to be a body in the breezeway across from his apartment and called 911. Police discovered two more deceased males in a ground-floor apartment.

According to investigators, the three victims -- Brian Lamont White, 36, andJames Edward Isiac, 64, both of Richmond, and Farris Allen Weston, 44, of Lawrenceville -- were at the vacant apartment to purchase $30,000 in cocaine.

During last week's raid, police also arrested Pierre Scott, who faces numerous charges including possession with intent to distribute marijuana, Channel 2 reports.
