A fit of road rage apparently led a Gwinnett County man to claim he was a police officer and threaten to kill two people, according to police.

But Jose Luis Marquez-Colon, who has a Lawrenceville address, wasn't even employed at the time he held up a badge while yelling at a father and adult daughter parked next to him, according to an incident report obtained by The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

The father told police the incident began when another driver cut him off on the Pleasant Hill ramp to I-85 northbound, the report states. But the driver of a yellow Acura continued to cut him off and slammed on the brakes while in front of the victims, according to police.

While the man's daughter called 911 to report the incident, a black Toyota joined the mix, police said. When the victim pulled into a gas station to wait for police to arrive, a man in the Toyota got out of his car and started yelling while holding a badge.

"I am a (expletive) police officer, what the (expletive) is your problem?" the man, later identified as Marquez-Colon, allegedly told the man and his daughter. He also threatened to kill them, the two told police.

Marquez-Colon left the gas station before officers arrived but was located through his tag number, the report states. Police also stopped the yellow Acura but let its occupants go without charging them.

The next day, the father and daughter identified Marquez-Colon in a photo lineup, and a warrant was issued for his arrest.

Marquez-Colon was arrested Thursday afternoon and booked into the Gwinnett County jail, according to booking records. He was charged with impersonating an officer and driving with a suspended or revoked license and was released the following night after posting $12,305 bond, records show.
