A Snellville dog euthanized after being hit by a car did not have LSD in his system, police said Tuesday.
Snellville police had said in an incident report that dog owners Nicholas Modrich and Jamie Hughes, both 25, were believed to have given Oscar, a male dachshund mix, the hallucinogenic drug Oct. 29.
A necropsy returned Monday said Oscar had a broken back, but no drugs in his system, said Detective Trey Downs with Snellville police.
Police went to the couple's home after getting reports of a man and woman running naked along Pinehurst Road. The couple fled to their home in the 2100 block of Pinehurst Road and Modrich answered the door naked after police knocked, police said earlier.
During questioning, Modrich and Hughes allegedly said they had taken LSD and given some to Oscar, who was missing. Police determined the animal had been hit by a vehicle on a nearby road. Oscar was later put down.
Modrich and Hughes are charged with misdemeanor possession of less than an ounce of marijuana, possession of a drug-related object and public indecency. Modrich also was charged with simple battery because a witness saw him forcefully pull Hughes' hair, police said.
Inside the home, police found a bong, marijuana and Gummi worms, which were allegedly used to take the LSD, police said. No LSD was found in the home.
Modrich and Hughes await trial in state court, police said Tuesday.
