After they were spotted by a man walking in the area, police in Roswell seized four malnourished dogs that were tied to a tree last month.

According to a police report, officers responded to an area near Holcomb Bridge Road and Creekside Way on Feb. 15 after a 22-year-old man called them. The man told police he saw and heard the dogs while walking with his friends around 2 p.m.

Police said the dogs were “very malnourished” and “to the point where you could see the outline of their rib bones.” Police untied the dogs and gave them food and water while waiting on Fulton County Animal Control.

All the dogs were taken to the Chattahoochee Animal Clinic. Roswell police said the dogs did not have chips or identifying collars. Police are still searching for the owner of the dogs. No charges have been filed.

The dogs were a black lab mix, a white and tan pit bull mix, a gray pit bull mix and a gray and white pit bull mix. Three of the dogs were tied to one tree and a fourth was tied to a separate tree further back in the woods, police said.
