The Locust Grove City Council voted at its Feb. 11 regular meeting to update its standard operating procedures for its police department with regard to courtroom security and the use of its holding cells.

The city did not have holding cells until the police department moved into its new building but now has three, and that necessitated the establishment of certain procedures, according to a city official. Also approved was a plan to hire bailiffs for the municipal court, which is necessary because of growth and an increased case load in the court, and a resolution approving upgraded body-worn cameras for officers.

All of these measures were approved unanimously by the council.
