Police chase ends in crash

A serious wreck occurred at the end of a short police chase on Peachtree Road and Peachtree Battle.

Atlanta police and fire look at two of the three cars involved in serious wreck that occurred at the end of a short police chase. The driver of the stolen vehicle was trapped in the car, but was freed by firefighters and taken to the hospital in critical condition. Two other people were also injured in the crash.

"There was a short pursuit," Atlanta police spokeswoman Kim Jones said. "At Peachtree Road and Peachtree Battle, the stolen vehicle struck another vehicle, and a third vehicle was also struck."

Atlanta police spokeswoman Kim Jones told the AJC that an officer spotted a stolen vehicle on Peachtree Road and stopped the vehicle, but when the officer exited the patrol car, the vehicle fled.
