July 28, 2011

Police blew up a suspicious package in downtown Atlanta late Wednesday night, Channel 2 Action News reported.

The package, a locked plastic box, was found leaning against a statue at Peachtree and Marietta streets.

Parts of Peachtree, Marietta and Decatur streets were shut down, and police redirected traffic.

The bomb squad was called in to detonate the package, which turned out to contain a pair of pants.
