Police ID bicyclist struck and killed by hit-and-run driver in Marietta

April 2, 2013Marietta police on Tuesday identified the bicyclist struck and killed by a hit-and-run driver Sunday evening.
Lawrence Joseph Young, 55, of Marietta died in the accident that happened just before 7:45 p.m. Sunday on Powder Springs Street at Natchez Trace.
Marietta police spokesman Michael Gardner said Young was struck by what witnesses described as a black SUV, possibly a Cadillac Escalade, with dark tinted windows and black wheels.
Young was taken to Wellstar Kennestone Hospital, where he later died.
The male driver of the SUV and two children were seen leaving the nearby NCG Cinema just before the accident.
