Clayton County narcotics officers recovered four pounds of marijuana and arrested five people during a drug bust Thursday in Riverdale.

Police found $10,000 worth of marijuana, an AK-47 assault rifle , a .380 semi-automatic handgun and $7,610 in cash, Clayton police spokesman Officer Gary Siblis said.

Fairburn police tipped the Clayton narcotics unit about the possibility of drug trafficking from a house at 1272 Quail Hunt Drive, he said.

Undercover detectives purchased a large amount of marijuana, and officers secured an arrest warrant after they entered the home and detected “a strong odor of marijuana,” Syblis said.

Juan Chatman, 32, of Atlanta, and Carlos Nadal, 64, Sandra Nadal, 60, Terrel Pierce, 36, and Ciara Betters, 30, all of Riverdale, were arrested and charged with drug and gun charges.

Each is being held in the Clayton County jail, awaiting bond decisions.
