The McDonough City Council at its Sept. 6 workshop meeting approved the design phase for a roundabout on Postmaster Drive.

City manger Keith Dickerson pointed out the necessity of keeping this project moving forward because of the new McDonough High School and McDonough Middle School being constructed in the area. Total cost to the city for survey, design, utility construction, right-of-way acquisition and construction engineering inspection is not to exceed $135,000 and will be paid from SPLOST funds, according to a staff report. Mayor Billy Copeland called a motion to approve the design and engineering work by Vaughn & Melton.

The motion passed with no one in opposition.
