Update: Uncle Maddio's on Chastain Road was was reinspected June 23 and received a score of 94.

The regional manager told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution that three additional employees were enrolled in food handling certification courses.

Original story: A pizza joint in Kennesaw nearly failed a recent health inspection in late May after food was contaminated, according to a report.

A health inspector noted that food was contaminated during preparation and the facilities were not maintained or cleaned correctly at Uncle Maddio's Pizza Joint on Chastain Road.

The restaurant is on the insection of Chastain Road and Georgia Busbee Parkway north of Kennesaw State University's Fifth Third Bank Stadium.

The regional manager for Uncle Maddio's said the restaurant will be requesting a reinspection "as soon as possible."

Shehzad Ali told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution that all the violations were corrected on site and all the the location's previous inspections received a score of 90 or above.
