Starting April 9, Rising Star Road in southern Fayette County will be temporarily closed to through traffic between Brooks Woolsey Road and Old Greenville Road. The county is replacing the culvert pipes, one of which has already collapsed, at the creek crossing off Brooks Woolsey near Burch Lake.

Chappell Road to the north will be used as the detour route. Rising Star Road is scheduled to reopen on or before June 11. The project will restore flow capacity to 100-year peak runoff levels and cost an estimated $450,000 of Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax funds.
