Pinewood traffic plans stall

Pinewood Studios developers will have to wait longer for Fayette County to decide on a traffic plan for the site.

The Board of Commissioners deadlocked on a 2-2 vote Thursday regarding whether to approve a tunnel, a roundabout or perhaps both on Veterans Parkway. Hundreds of acres are slated for development there, and a 2013 intergovernmental agreement originally called for a tunnel under the highway for pedestrians, cyclists and golf carts.

Studio representatives now believe a roundabout is a better and cheaper option for all traffic, but some county staff are concerned about safety issues with that design.
