Broken water main causes sinkhole; closes street in northwest Atlanta

A northwest Atlanta street was shut down early Monday while crews worked to repair a ruptured water main that caused a sinkhole. JOHN SPINK/JSPINK@AJC.COM

The sinkhole swallowed one lane of Collier Drive. Collier Drive was shut down at 6 a.m. between Valley Heart Drive and Chalmers Drive, according to Scheree Rawles, spokeswoman for the city’s Department of Watershed Management. JOHN SPINK/JSPINK@AJC.COM
