The Fayette County Sheriff’s Office is alerting residents about phone scams related to its department. The county received reports last week of two incidents in which a man claiming to be from the sheriff’s office asked individuals to send a prepaid card for $240 to avoid being arrested for an alleged warrant for missing jury duty. The county said it never asks for payment to drop a warrant, and that anyone receiving such a call should report it by dialing 911.
