In response to news this week that a rabid cat had been found on Scales Road in Suwanee, the Georgia Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is reminding pet owners that it offers $10 rabies vaccines when they bring in an animal to be spayed or neutered.

The society's low-cost spay/neuter program also offers other veterinary services at that time. More information can be found at www.georgiaSPCA.org or by calling 678-765-2726.

The county is asking anyone who sees any strange animals from the woods nearby to call 911 to dispatch an animal control officer, and advising people to keep their pets inside.
