A man was killed Tuesday night after a large tree fell on a home as storms ripped through Jackson County, officials said.

The incident happened along Ga. 332 about 9:30 p.m.

Homeowner Jason Lee Combs, 29, was inside a bedroom with his wife and children when the tree came crashing down, Sheriff Janis Mangum said Wednesday.

Firefighters worked to free Combs from the tree, but he was pronounced dead.

His wife and children were not injured.

No other details were released.

Tuesday night’s storms also damaged homes and cars and resulted in power outages across metro Atlanta.
