Taking advantage of lighter traffic volumes due to the COVID-19 outbreak, the Georgia Department of Transportation announced nightly lane closures on Ga. 400 and a ramp closure at the I-285 interchange over the Memorial Day weekend so crews can set beams for a big new bridge.

Weather permitting, crews will set beams for a span that will be the longest – at 1.5 miles – and tallest, about 80 feet, at the reconstructed Ga. 400/I-285 interchange in the top-end Perimeter area of North Fulton and DeKalb counties.

Lane closures are planned for 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. from Friday night through Monday morning. GDOT said. Two left lanes of northbound Ga. 400 from I-285 to Hammond Drive, and the ramp from eastbound I-285 to northbound Ga. 400, will be closed. To view a detour map: https://bit.ly/3bFYjR7

No work will take place overnight on Memorial Day. The beam setting will resume overnight Tuesday, May 26. Information: https://bit.ly/3fYUud7
