The pedestrian struck and killed as he crossed a busy Cobb County road was an 86-year-old homeless man, police said Thursday.

William Clossick died during surgery after he was hit by a SUV on South Marietta Parkway in Marietta around 4:40 p.m. Oct. 14, Marietta police said.

Clossick was not in a crosswalk when he was hit near the CCT transit station.

The driver, Janice Bird, 63, of Marietta, stopped after hitting the man, police said. Bird was not charged.
