A female pedestrian attempting to cross the street was struck by a vehicle Tuesday evening and killed, according to DeKalb County police.

The woman, who police have not identified, was transported to a hospital, but did not survive.

The accident happened at the intersection of Lawrenceville Highway and Old Norcross Road, according to Mekka Parish, police spokesperson. The woman was not in a crosswalk.

The driver, who stopped at the scene, is not expected to face charges, Parish said.
