Peachtree-Dunwoody bridge to be open in March
By April Hunt
Dec 7, 2009Officials have set March 24 as the date when motorists can again take the Peachtree-Dunwoody bridge over Nancy Creek in Sandy Springs.
But crews are working weekends on the bridge, which was washed out during flooding in September, trying to beat even that optimistic deadline.
The project will cost about $1 million, half the original estimate. The Federal Highway Administration is paying for the project, which was fast-tracked through permitting so that crews could begin work last month.
The repair work will restore the bridge and add sidewalks on both sides.
The closing of the bridge has disrupted traffic in Sandy Springs as well as neighboring communities. Detour signs are still up to direct motorists away from the site.
