The Atlanta Regional Commission has honored Peachtree Corners with certification as a Green Community.

The award is in recognition of the city’s efforts to conserve energy, reduce waste and protect natural resources:

  • The city provides a public drop-off location for cell phones, household batteries and ink cartridges, and provides a database of local recycling opportunities for residents.
  • The city encourages businesses to redevelop aging buildings within the existing Technology Park and other under-utilized locations rather than build on undeveloped land. In addition the city encourages recycling by providing incentives for businesses to locate recycling facilities in the city limits.
  • The city has also adopted a 'night sky" ordinance to reduce excess light pollution and conserve energy and provide incentives for timer-controlled sign lighting and use of high-efficiency LED lamps.
  • Finally, Peachtree Corners has installed electric vehicle charging stations at city hall.
