Councilmember Jay Lowe who officially resigned his seat on the Peachtree Corners city council last week to run as State Representative, was recognized at Tuesday’s city council meeting for his service.

“Jay has served on the city’s inaugural city council for over four years,” said Mayor Mike Mason. “We have valued his leadership, insight and good humor that he brought to the council.”

With the Post 2 seat now vacant, the city will hold a special Municipal Election 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. May 24 at City Hall, 147 Technology Parkway. Qualifying dates for the Post 2 seat are 9 a.m. to noon and 1 to 4 p.m. March 28 and 29 and 9 a.m. to noon March 30. The qualifying fee is $240, which is three percent of the total gross councilmember salary. Qualifying will be conducted in the City Clerk’s office at Peachtree Corners City Hall.

Residents who have not registered in the city’s municipal election have until 5 p.m. April 26.
