About a dozen Peachtree City residents who live alongside Lake Peachtree attended the City Council meeting recently to voice concerns about a proposed park. One of the projects slated for funding by the new Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax is a $200,000 passive park on what is officially named Lake Peachtree Island, but known locally as Snake Island because of its wild inhabitants.

Residents from the adjacent subdivision want to know where cars and golf carts will park if a bridge is built to the island, and worry about disruptions and security risks from increased vehicle and pedestrian traffic.
