Peachtree City is already gearing up for the paving projects to be funded by the Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax that takes effect July 1. The city is purchasing a dump truck, root cutter and asphalt spreader using $385,000 of funds approved by the city council in mid-May.

The equipment and the crew being hired to use it will repair and resurface roads and multi-use paths. The city’s share of Fayette County’s one-cent sales tax is expected to bring in approximately $45 million over six years; the full list of road and path projects will require about $39 million to complete.
