A 36-year-old Peachtree City man was killed about 2:20 a.m. Tuesday when his vehicle collided with a tractor-trailer in Tyrone, police said.

Elliot Schwartz was driving south on Highway 74 when he ran a red light and struck a tractor-trailer that was turning right, Tyrone police Chief Brandon Perkins told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

“We don’t know why he ran the red light,” Perkins said.

The road was cleared about 7 a.m.

An investigation is ongoing.
