Due to the ongoing drought, the Peachtree City Fire Marshal’s Office has decided not to issue any more outdoor burning permits until conditions improve. The city says that despite the inconvenience, the restriction is necessary to prevent brush fires from starting or spreading, several incidents of which have already occurred since Oct. 1. Residents can dispose of leaves, pine needles and other yard debris at the Recycling Center on Rockaway Road just off Ga. Hwy. 74 South. However, it is illegal to dump yard waste in the city’s greenbelt areas, including along the golf cart paths.
