Peachtree City has awarded a bid of $852,628 to AM Construction for road improvements on Highway 54 West at Planterra Way. The funds, from SPLOST and state sources, were approved 5-0 by the City Council on Aug. 3.

The work will lengthen the Highway 54 turn lanes by 150 feet in each direction so that traffic going into Home Depot and Walmart doesn’t back up into through lanes. Construction will be done at night and should be complete by Oct. 31.

Additional work on the Planterra and shopping center outbound lanes will begin after the holiday shopping season and be finished by March.
