Following two consecutive budget cycles without any cost-of-living increases for its employees, Peachtree City on Thursday approved a one-time “performance incentive” bonus for its staff.

City Manager Jon Rorie said that 231 full-time workers will receive $300 pre-tax and 65 part-time staff will receive $150 pre-tax; the actual take-home portion will be about half that. The city currently has no merit pay system, and has passed on some health insurance benefits costs to employees.

The total cost to the city will be $79,050 and was not originally part of this year’s budget. The measure was supported 5-0 by the City Council.
