In a letter to residents in Berkeley Lake announcing the city’s own emergency declaration, Mayor Lois Salter announced the canceling of the city’s Earth Day collection, shredding and recycling event previously scheduled for April 18.

Residents will however see the resurfacing of streets from Ridge Road to North Berkeley Lake Road on Lakeshore Drive, Hermitage Plantation and Bayway Circle. The paving project should begin mid-April to early May. Once paving starts, paving should take no more than 2 weeks, weather permitting.

Associated concrete and shoulder work which started the week of March 23 may result in short single-lane closures during concrete pours in the areas of Little Ridge Road at Lakeshore Drive and Lakeshore Drive near Hilltop Lane and Valley View Drive. Again, depending on the weather, this concrete work should be complete by April 3.
