A Spirit Airlines flight from Atlanta to Los Angeles landed in California with nearly 20 sick passengers on board, Channel 2 Action News reported.
None of the passengers were taken to the hospital, according to the news station, but Centers for Disease Control and Prevention officials were seen boarding the plane.
According to Spirit Airlines spokesman Stephen Schuler, passengers reported a sweet smell coming from the middle of the plane.
“The flight attendants notified the pilots of the odor, but no smell was detected in other parts of the aircraft,” Schuler said. “The smell dissipated quickly and the flight continued to LAX without incident.”
Schuler said no emergency was declared.
