Part of Roswell's popular riverside boardwalk and trail will be closed some of the weekend, the city announced Thursday.

The stretch of the Riverwalk trail that is closed spans from the corner of Willeo Road and Azalea Drive, to where the boardwalk begins. There is a longer alternate route.

Crews will be installing new landscaping near that corner of Azalea and Willeo at Riverwalk, the multi-purpose greenway that includes a boardwalk along the river.

The Riverwalk project dates back to 2000 when residents approved a bond referendum. Last year, officials cut the ribbon on the final phase of the project, which has cost tens of millions of dollars.
