Northbound lanes along the Downtown Connector will close temporarily early Friday while Atlanta police re-create an accident as part of an investigation.

Lanes will shut down near the 10th and 14th streets exit beginning 3 a.m., Atlanta police announced on its Facebook page. The interstate is expected to reopen by 3:30 a.m.

Atlanta police are investigating a Sept. 6 accident that left several people injured. According to police, occupants in two vehicles got out of their cars to inspect the damage of a wreck.

While assessing the damage, a third vehicle rear-ended one of the cars, causing a chain reaction and multiple injuries.

Drivers are asked to use alternate routes during the shutdown. Police said the 10th and 14th street ramp will be accessible to bypass the closure.
