Upgrades are planned for two city of Woodstock parks

The Woodstock City Council Monday night approved plans for several improvements at Dupree Park, including fitness station equipment for the park fitness trail, two pavilions, a disc golf course and concrete paths at Dupree Park. Also planned is an expansion of the heavily-used vehicle lot at Woofstock Park, the city’s dog park. The $193,000 cost would be paid for from city impact fees.

Parks director Preston Pooser said he wants to go out for bids this spring and for the work to be completed in the summer.

The council also approved two parking variances for a planned music venue at 8722 Main St., including allowing parking between the building and the street. The owner of the property wants to build a new multi-story structure and move a historic home currently on-site to the back of the property facing Market Street.
