Outside group picked to handle DeKalb's curriculum training

DeKalb Schools has agreed to contract with Pearson education company to provide training on the Common Core State Standards to 560 district and school leaders and 160 instructional coaches for an amount not to exceed $227,800. The money will be paid through Georgia's Race to the Top grant, a federal program to encourage school reform. The training sessions are designed to provide participants with a clear understanding of the new standards, which will be implemented in 2012-2013.
