One Penske shooting victim still critical

Two weeks after a deadly shooting spree at a Cobb County trucking facility, a Kennesaw man remains in critical condition.

Zachariah Werner, 36, a married father of three, remains at WellStar Kennestone Hospital, said hospital spokesman Keith Bowermaster Tuesday evening.

Werner was one of five men shot Jan.12 at the Penske facility near Kennesaw. Three men died, and another man, Joshua Holbrook, was released from Kennestone on Monday.

A former Penske employee, 60-year-old Jesse James Warren, remains in the Cobb County jail on murder charges. Warren is accused of firing shots from at least two handguns, according to police.

The city of Kennesaw and Northwest Baptist Church have established a fund to benefit the Werner family.

Contributions can be made at the NorthWest Bank and Trust locations in Acworth or Marietta, or at Kennesaw City Hall.
