One metro Atlanta Ruby Tuesday was among the approximately 95 locations that will close due to underperformance.
The casuality was the Duluth location at 3580 Peachtree Industrial Boulevard, which has already closed its doors.
Christine Beggan, a senior associate at Ruby Tuesday, sent the following statement:
“The decision to close our Duluth Ruby Tuesday restaurant was not made lightly given the impact to our cherished team members, however, we believe it is a necessary step to improve the health and profitability of the company and best position Ruby Tuesday for success. We will offer full-time and part-time employees impacted by the closures positions in nearby restaurants where possible. In cases where relocation is not possible, severance and benefits will be made available in accordance with our company policy. We greatly appreciate the dedicated service of our team members and the patronage of the many residents and guests that have dined at our Duluth Ruby Tuesday restaurant over the years. We look forward to continue serving guests at our area restaurants including East Point, College Park, Concord, Lithonia, Marietta, Lithia Springs, and Fayetteville.”
The closings were prompted by fourth quarter and fiscal year financial results, which showed that total revenue declined 5.9% to $279.3 million. The company announced plans to "streamline the organization, improve financial profitability, and create long-term value for shareholders through its Fresh Start initiative," according to a news release.
