One person was killed early Wednesday in a house fire in DeKalb County.

DeKalb fire Chief Edward O’Brien told the AJC that the one-story house on West Indian Creek Circle, a dirt road off Covington Highway, was “100 percent involved” in flames when firefighters arrived shortly before 2:30 a.m.

“We have located the body of one victim in the structure,” O’Brien said. He did not know the gender or age of the victim.

O’Brien said fire crews had to run about 1,800 feet of hose from Covington Highway to reach the house.
