All westbound lanes of I-20 in Douglas County were shut down late Thursday morning following a fatal multi-car wreck.

The three-vehicle crash happened before 11:30 a.m. west of Fairburn Road, according to the state Department of Transportation.

DOT spokeswoman Chata Spikes confirmed that one person was killed and a second person injured. Their names were not immediately available.

All westbound lanes were blocked for more than an hour. One of the three westbound lanes had reopened by about 12:40 p.m., and the DOT predicted it would be 2 p.m. before all lanes were cleared.
