The Henry County Zoning Advisory Board voted at its March 28 meeting to recommend approval of a rezoning request for a 103-acre tract on the northeast corner of Hwy. 81 East and North Ola Road.

The applicant seeks to create a mixed-use development with a retail center on the corner, anchored by a grocery store with outparcels, and a single-family residential subdivision behind it. The developers proposed a maximum of 104 residential units, far fewer than what can be built in a mixed-use zoning designation. Also proposed were improvements to the highway as well as North Ola Road in front of the development.

A representative stated that the grocery store would be 1,200 feet from the public schools that already exist in the neighborhood.
