Leadership of Fayette County’s Board of Commissioners will remain unchanged for 2020.

Board members voted 5-0 on Thursday to reappoint District 2 representative Randy Ognio as chairman for another year, along with Charles Oddo of District 5 for a second term as vice chairman. Both were approved on the first vote, with no other candidates nominated for either position.

The meeting’s consent agenda also included unanimous approval to authorize any combination of Ognio, Oddo and County Administrator Steve Rapson to sign county checks for $5,000 or more; checks for lesser amounts can be signed by any one of them. All three were also authorized to “execute contracts, resolutions, agreements or other documents approved by and on behalf of the Board of Commissioners.”

In a reference to past conflicts on previous boards, Commissioner Eric Maxwell told Ognio, “You’ve successfully made it through the first year without us wanting to beat each other up.”
