New asphalt is now open for drivers on Interstate 85 northbound from State Route 140/Jimmy Carter Boulevard, Exit 99 to Indian Trail Road, Exit 101. The new flex lane can be used Monday through Friday 3 to 7 p.m. only.

“You can use this new flex lane on your way home today. This flex lane is just like the Georgia 400 system in Fulton County. The shoulder of I-85 has been rebuilt to support traffic from Jimmy Carter Boulevard to Indian Trail Road. This is the only section of flex lanes on I-85,” explained Brent Cook, Georgia DOT District Engineer.

Baldwin Paving built the new flex lane for $2.2 million.
