This year’s holiday assistance program of North Fulton Community Charities served more than 900 families and 1,800 children with coats, food, toys and other goods, the Roswell-based organization announced.

Also, nearly 1,400 individuals volunteered, setting up, cleaning up, carrying groceries and helping families shop for toys, as well as organizing food and toy drives, officials said.

The holiday assistance program began with Warm Coat Day, followed by a Thanksgiving Food Program, a Sponsored Families Program and Santa Shop. Additionally, holiday baskets were provided to more than 150 senior citizens.

“The holiday assistance program is so important to the families we serve because it allows them to enjoy the holiday season with their families without the financial burden the holidays often bring,” said Eden Purdy, the group’s director of programs.

The holiday program was sponsored by Malon D. Mimms, DataScan and UPS.

NFCC serves nearly 10,000 individuals and 4,000 families each year. Information: https://nfcchelp.org/
