The annual Warm Coat Drive of North Fulton Community Charities enters its 25th year this season, with a mission of collecting new and gently worn coats and jackets and accessories such as hats, scarves and gloves for adults and children.

The drive runs through October, with a Warm Coat Day distribution on Saturday, Oct. 26, according to an event announcement. Last year, the Roswell-based North Fulton Charities handed out more than 1,400 coats and accessories to families in need. Information: https://bit.ly/2p4sQFz

Donations will be accepted through Oct. 24 at locations including Alpharetta Presbyterian Church, 180 Academy St.; CoreMatters, 1144 Canton St., Suite 104, Roswell; Ed Isakson/Alpharetta Family YMCA, 3655 Preston Ridge Drive, Alpharetta; and St. David’s Episcopal Church, 1015 Old Roswell Road, Roswell.

From 2 to 5 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 24, and 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 2 to 5 p.m. Friday, Oct. 25, donations can be delivered directly to the Warm Coat Day distribution center, to be announced prior to the event.

The Warm Coat Drive began in 1994 as a Girl Scout Troop 628 service project at Crabapple Middle School, Roswell.

“Warm Coat Day is so important to the families who participate because it allows them to prepare their family for winter without the burden of that extra expense on their already stretched budgets,” said Eden Purdy, NFCC director of programs.
