North Fayette Elementary School will soon purchase new creative learning tools after recently receiving a $5,000 Toolbox for Education grant from the Lowe’s Charitable and Educational Foundation. It plans to use the funds to create Maker’s Space 2.0, a place for exploring STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art and math) projects. Among the school’s purchases will be a 3-D printer, building blocks and related materials. North Fayette was one of 545 schools across the country chosen to receive the Lowe’s grant this year. Principal Monica Reckley said the project will help students “by exposing them to tools and experiences that will give them a jump start towards secondary readiness and future job preparedness.”
