An 85-year-old Norcross woman is dead after her car was struck by a truck on Buford Highway at Langford Road Monday morning, police said.

Ophelia Bryant Bales had pulled out of a CVS, at about 11:50 a.m., when her late-model Cadillac was struck by a small box truck traveling north on Buford Highway, Norcross Police Capt. Bill Grogan told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

Bales was pronounced dead at the scene, Grogan said.

The crash blocked traffic for at least two hours on the southbound lanes of Buford Highway, according to Norcross police.
The lanes will remain closed for the next 45 minutes while the Georgia Department of Transportation continues to investigate the crash, Grogan said at about 2 p.m.

Motorists should use Peachtree Industrial Boulevard as an alternate route, police said, according to the Channel 2 Action News traffic team.
