Norcross business members and residents met last Thursday for the first of two public meetings about a new Tax Allocation District, also called the City Center East TAD, that would work toward redevelopment around Lillian Webb Park, a four-acre center within the historic district.

Establishment of a TAD will allow Norcross to allocate future taxes in the area to pay for the development’s improvement. The proposed TAD covers approximately 28 acres and 38 parcels south of the historic district. Existing taxpayers would not be affected, with only future real estate taxes within the TAD collected and allocated to the TAD area.

Norcross will hold a second meeting at 7 p.m. April 6 at City Hall.
