After years of planning, the Norcross Downtown Development Authority is ready to take the next step toward building a "showplace" mixed-use development around Lillian Webb Park.

The DDA is seeking a developer for 16 parcels around the downtown park.

The 6.8-acre redevelopment site around could eventually feature living units, two parking garages to be shared by residents, retail and office space.

Interested developers will have until Sept. 2 to submit an overall plan, conceptual drawings, their organizational structure and other materials to the selection committee.

Following about two months of review, interviews and evaluation, the committee will select the developer and then seek citizen input via public hearings and meetings.
