The Norcross city council voted recently to approve a $2.7 million contract with low bidder ER Snell construction for new medians on Buford Highway between Jimmy Carter Boulevard and Beaver Ruin Road.

The construction phase of this project is funded with $1.4 million from the federal government with a concomitant local funding level of at least $350,844. In addition, the Georgia Department of Transportation has agreed to add $250,000 to the project from their maintenance fund to include scheduled milling activities. This will allow both the maintenance effort of milling and resurfacing and the construction of the medians to be performed simultaneously.

An additional GDOT commitment has also been added to fund $400,000 for asphalt surfacing and $160,000 for traffic control.

With all the agreed upon funding in place, Norcross will provide an additional $153,122 to move forward with the project.
